Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Six Flags Fiesta Texas offers a Texan experience with live music shows depicting various Texas cultures, rides, a water park and a "seaside" boardwalk. New rides include the Roadrunner Express roller coaster and DC Comics Superheroes Live, with popular comic book characters amidst some impressive special effects. Take your bathing suit to cool off from the hot sun in the Ol' Waterin' and Ol' Swimmin' Holes. Restaurants on site. Full day passes cost $31 plus tax for visitors 48 in/122 cm and taller; $21.50 plus tax for those under 48 in/122 cm, seniors and disabled people; free for children age 2 and under. Generally, the park opens Friday-Sunday in April and May and then daily from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day. The park is 15 mi/24 km northwest of downtown. Sea World of Texas

An extensive marine life park, with more than 25 spectacular shows, educational exhibits, rides and family attractions, including shows by various killer whales, all going by the trade name Shamu. If you are 54 in/137 cm or taller and like being heels-over-head while your body loops around at a high-speed, get on the new Great White roller coaster. Bring swimsuits for water slides, rides and the wave pool. Open weekends from late March to early June. Open daily Jun 8-Aug 11 from 10 am to 10 pm. Call (210) 523-3611 for a detailed schedule. Splashtown

SplashTown is more than 40 rides and attractions packed into 50 wooded acres just north of downtown Houston. From the all new Wild Waterworks Factory ride, to special events, entertainment, live bands and concerts, SplashTown is without a doubt the reason Summer was invented! Refresh the family in the world's largest wave pool and other fun water rides in this 20-acre/8-hectare park. The 1997 summer season runs from May 23 to Aug 17, when the park is open Sunday-Thursday 11 am to 9 pm and Fridays and Saturdays 11 am to 10 pm.
