FIGURATIVE WORKS
San Antonio artist Rita Maria Contreras has painted intimate self-portraits, powerfully Expressionistic, a sampling of which are presented here. These paintings pack a disturbing punch, their intense colors glowing on the surface, revealing more than is apparent at first glance. Her other figurative works reflect this Expressionistic tradition also, emphasizing the feelings about the subject as much as the subject itself. (Commissions accepted for portraits. )

TEXAS LANDSCAPES

The Texas Landscape Series of paintings are large-scale works on canvas approximately 5x5 feet, vibrant, colorful and full of rhythm. These are linked by their reference to the Texas Hill Country and the Davis Mountains. She has recently completed smaller scale works in this series as well. (See next page). A percentage of the proceeds from works sold in this series will be contributed to The Texas Nature Conservancy, to help preserve land over the Edwards Aquifer.
