Jil Ewing's natural talent for art was recognized at an early age by her elementary school teachers. At five, she was selected as the sole representative of her school to compete in a city wide art competition. While her mother didn't encourage jil to pursue a career in art, she did cultivate her love of art, by taking her to museums and supplying her with plenty of arts and crafts materials. After working in the corporate world for years and feeling unfulfilled, jil decided to continue to sharpen her skills in art. She began taking classes at the South West School of Art in 2000. She also studied with Alberto Mijangos at his studio. Jil works mostly with acrylic. Her sense of humor and her unique way of seeing things are often found present in her works. The way she deals with perspective and size give her paintings and interesting style. Jil has had a solo exhibit at The Peep Hole Art Gallery and two group exhibits at First Friday. She was commissioned by Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. She is currently pursuing a degree in interior design and is commissioned to do portraits, murals and custom paintings. |
